Answers to Common Questions
Materials & Support
We are a small collection of current and former Baseball and Fastpitch players who all played/coached at a high level, love and understand the demands of the game, and enjoy being a part of the next generation's experience.
Each of us picked up a knack for maintaining our glove out of necessity, continued on to expand our glove knowledge, and offer this service now wishing we had it when we were coming up.
We know the demands of the game are higher then ever. Today's athlete needs to make sure their glove is in premium shape to perform at a high level AND benefits more from putting time into their game instead of time into their glove. But neglecting your glove creates a cost that catches up to you when you least expect it and are counting on it the most.
We once had a coach who would preach "there is no such thing as a bad glove ... just bad feet." We all agree this is true, but add that great feet with a confident glove delivers the best version of ourselves.
We can easily be found right here at GLUVWRX.com through the chat feature in the lower corner of each and every screen.

Products
Mostly we are are service oriented company.
As part of our subscription service we do send our members a Custom GLUV Stand and our 5-Tool GLUV Kit that is part of our proactive glove care strategy.
If you are a subscribing member looking for an additional stand or kit reach out to us and we'll get you setup!
Our GLUV Kit is meant to make sure you have everything you need to most easily keep your glove in premium shape between services in a size and format that is easy to keep in your bag.
Each kit is a customized EPA foam shell that is light weight and durable that comes filled with:
- GLUV WRX Microfiber Towel
- Needle Nose Pliers w/ built in cutters
- U-Wire Glove Repair tool
- Ballplayers Balm Conditioning Balm
- Extra length of Glove Lace
These items should be everything you need to maintain and repair your glove for game use so you can travel and play with confidence.
Making sure our gloves stay in an appropriate temperature, have an opportunity to dry out, and don't get compressed in our bag means we need to store it someplace of value ... which typically means inside someplace.
If I had a dollar every time I was asked to pick up my glove and put it "away" I would still be a wealthy man. The problem is no matter where I put it ... on the table, on my desk, on my bed, on the dresser, etc ... it was always a bit of an eye sore.
The GLUV Stand is an elegant solution to that issue. The honeycomb design that fits into the hand stall allows air to pass freely, the glove can dry inside and out, it's in a protected position that isn't going to compromise the structure of the glove, and it looks great doing so! Everybody wins.
We do have our stands built out in a variety of colors and have always sent them out based on stock we have on hand.
We have left it to our Glove Pro's who have had a fun time matching stands available with the glove they are sending out.
You are welcome to reach out and ask, but it has long been our stance to leave it up to who's servicing your glove and it's worked out great so far!

New gloves are a lot of fun, but it has been our experience that your glove refreshed and maintained well is a better experience!
There are a few main components to consider here. What level you play, frequency of use, and the conditions you play in.
We have a Glove Care Calculator meant to give you more info on this topic:
Click for Glove Care Calculator
Level, includes age, which gives us a strong indication of the impact your glove sees from thrown balls and contact off the bat. Age is also a great indicator of glove care maturity as those who are still playing when they are older tend to have a higher level of glove care during and between uses.
Frequency is impacted by how much of the year your play, practice/game frequency each week, and type of glove (or position) lets us guess with experience what kind of use the glove sees while on an athletes hand.
Conditions can mostly be estimated regionally. Each region has a pattern of climate (Heat, Humidity, Precipitation) as well as typical field type that have an impact. Keep in mind conditions are impacted an felt by glove leather both while playing and while stored between uses.
As a baseline it is best practice to assume gloves need to be Cleaned & Conditioned about every 40-60 hrs of use on a sliding scale based on the 3 above factors. Keep in mind your glove is only on your hand for a fraction of the total time at practice or games.
In use impact, sweat, dust, dirt, turf abrasions, turf pellets, bag compression, bag cleanliness, and between use storage all play a major role in sliding that number lower or higher.

A controlled, time-tested technique that involves briefly submerging the glove in water which softens fibers without weakening the hide.
For elite gloves and high-end leathers, our preferred process.
We use room-temperature distilled water to ensure balanced hydration while eliminating mineral deposits.
This method is safe on leather when done correctly as it also involves a proper drying phase and is stored correctly removing the two high risk elements of a wet glove.
We don't recommend this method for light colored gloves that have bright colored laces as color bleed is possible. We do test laces beforehand for color fastness to ensure we avoid this and will reach out and refund you the water method fee if we find this is the case for your specific glove.

Glove Care Calculator
At a high level the glove care calculator is a tool we've been building to help share concepts around Glove Care, what to look out for, and how to customize as best we can quickly for every use case.
This honestly feels like a tall order, but we after sharing hundreds of ideas while working on gloves we felt like it was something we could tackle!
How your glove is constructed lets us know the build quality of your glove so we can match care requirements with the needs of the materials used.
- Premium - These are top tier gloves made from premium leather and materials. These gloves typically ship much more stiff and take more time to break in due to their additional structure, but perform at a high level for the longest period of time.
Examples would be Rawlings HOH, Pro Preferred, or REV1X; Wilson A2000 or A2k; 44 Signature or Pro Series; Marucci Capital; or Most Kip leather gloves. - Performance - This line of gloves typically features a softer leather that is easier to break-in to be game ready right away.
Examples would be Rawlings R9, Liberty Advanced, Gold Glove (Dick's), or Encore; Wilson A1000, A700, or A500; 44 Classic or Youth; Marucci Oxbow or Accension.
If you are unsure which definition your glove falls under a standard rule of thumb is to go off glove price. Premium glove MSRP is typically $299 and higher. Performance gloves are typically $250 and lower.
Levels are important because it let's us know the time and performance demand on your glove.
- Youth - Rec: 5th Grade or under playing just during spring season

- College/Pro: 18+ practicing and playing at an elevated level all year long.
- Coach/Adult Rec: 18+ Recreational players and Coaches who rely on their glove, but don't have the same demand as an everyday player.
Understanding the position your glove will be used on the field allows us to calculate the usage demands it will see when you are using it.

- Catcher
- 1st Base
- Infield
- Outfield
There are lots of ways we define the gloves we throw into our bags. We've done our best here to define 3 types of gloves that affect standard of care. Match your unique usage style into one of the options below.
- Primary Gamer: This is your highest priority glove that is your go to and most likely used during nearly all practices, games, and showcase events.
- Secondary Gamer: This is a glove you keep in your bag to be used in a position that isn't your primary spot and therefore doesn't see the same kind of usage as your primary gamer, BUT needs to be reliable under pressure.
- Backup: This is a glove you keep around and use on an as needed basis. May see more practices than games, especially if the weather is poor. Very likely an older glove that used to be your primary gamer. This glove sees the least amount of action, but like the others needs to perform when you reach for it.
Key environmental climate conditions can be derived from what part of the country you reside. Temperature, humidity, indoor/outdoor use by season throughout the year, and field types can be generalized across defined regions.
- Deep South + Hawaii: Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Alabama (AL), Mississippi (MS), Louisiana (LA), and Hawaii (HI)
- Mid-Atlantic: South Carolina (SC), North Carolina (NC), Virginia (VA), Maryland (MD), Delaware (DE), and Washington DC (DC)
- Texas+ Border Southwest: Texas (TX), Oklahoma (OK), Arkansas (AR), and New Mexico (NM)
- Southwest Interior: Arizona (AZ), Nevada (NV), and Utah (UT)
- Inland West Coast: Dry side of Cascades (Eastern Oregon (OR) & Eastern Washington (WA),
California - Inland Counties (examples: Sacramento Valley, Central Valley, Riverside, San Bernadino, Fresno, Bakersfield, etc) - Pacific Coast & Northeast Coast: Washington (WA) - West Side, Oregon (OR) - West Side, Coastal California (SF Bay Area, LA Basin, San Diego),
New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Connecticut (CT), Rhode Island (RI), Massachusetts (MA), Vermont (VT), New Hampshire (NH), and Maine (ME) - Upper Midwest & Great Lakes: Minnesota (MN), Wisconsin (WI), Michigan (MI), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Ohio (OH), Pennsylvania (PA), Kentucky (KY), Tennessee (TN), West Virginia (WV), Missouri (MO), Kansas (KS), Iowa (IA), Nebraska (NE), North Dakota (ND), and South Dakota (SD)
